Fused Glass Workshop Descriptions

 

All Cracked Up

No prior glass experience necessary to create this classically simple dish.  Easy & inexpensive.  All materials included to create a 10” round dish.

 

Decal Pendant Workshop

Great workshop to make Christmas Gifts!  Learn how to fuse painted decals onto glass pendant blanks.  We will provide a variety of glass colors & painted decals for you to make 6 decal pendants.  You will learn to use the Beetle Bits cutting system.  No prior glass experience necessary.

 

Details in a Day

Example of projects on display in Studio.  Learn how to add traditional painting details without multiple firings.  Materials and firing included.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.

 

Dichroic Bead Bracelet

Create your own unique dichroic beads in this workshop.  You will then use your dichroic beads, along with glass accent beads to make a beautiful bracelet.  All materials included.

 

Flip Fire

Create a 7 ½” square piece which will be fired twice.  This technique explores color and design layering to create a three dimensional effect with unique colors not available from the glass manufacturers.  Base glass, frit, and 2 firings included.

 

Fused Christmas Tree Workshop

Walk in anytime between 1 pm and 4 pm to create a beautiful Christmas suncatcher/ornament.  Project takes approximately ½ hour to make.  Project will then be fired in our kiln and will be available for pick-up early the following week.

 

Fused Dichroic Jewelry Workshop

All materials & firing included to complete 6 pendants. No prior glass experience required.  Learn how to make a channel in your pendant to accommodate a cord.  Finished pendants will be available for pick-up a couple days after the class.

 

Fused Mosaic Plate

Create a mosaic plate using fused glass techniques.  All materials and 1 firing included.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Fused Snowman Plate

Create a whimsical winter wonderland in fused glass.  Use dichroic frit to make your wintery scene sparkle.  Cutting skills preferred but not mandatory.  Bring your cutter and pliers.  All materials included.

 

Fused Wall Pockets

A wall pocket is a vase made of 2 pieces of glass which are fused together on 3 sides.  This is a unique work of art that can be used to display cut flowers or an arrangement of silk or dried flowers.  You must purchase glass of your choice at the Studio.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.

 

Fused Windchimes

Enjoy the sparkling sound and beauty when you create your own fused windchime.  A Fall theme with a Pumpkin or Ghost windchime is the inspiration for this class.  Glass for windchime must be purchased at our Studio.  Firing & stringing materials included.

 

Fusing with Inclusions

Take your fusing knowledge one step further by learning what can be “included” between 2 layers of glass.  Learn ways to manipulate paints, metals, mica powders, silver leaf & other surprise materials.  All materials & firings are included.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.

 

Giraffe Bowl

Create a cool “Giraffe” effect bowl using powdered frits.  All materials and firings included.

 

Glass Clay Plate

Learn how to make your own glass clay using frit and a mixing medium.  Create beautiful elements to embellish your fused glass projects.  Students must purchase glass and frit at our Studio.  Bring your glass cutting tools.

 

Going Deep – Etching Dichroic

Explore etching and layering to create your own dichroic glass with extreme depth and 3-D effects.  In this class you will learn how to Dremel etch without chipping and also etching with cream etch.  Class includes all materials and firing for 4 pendants.  Bring to class: glass cutting tools, X-acto knife, and Dremel with ball tip.  Last winter Bonnie took classes with renowned glass artist Tanya Veit from AAE Glass.  Bonnie will be teaching Tanya’s techniques in this special 2 day class.  Learning these techniques will advance your pendants to gallery quality.  To see Tanya’s extraordinary pendants go to: http://www.aaeglass.com/handetched.html

 

Intro to Fusing Workshop

Learn the basics of fusing glass in a kiln.  Project consists of 2 Coasters.  All materials and firings are included.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.

 

Intro to Hot Frit

In this class you will learn how to use frit & “liquid glass” lines in your imagery.  Bring your glass cutter and pliers.

 

Kracks & Krinkles Bowl

Create an 8” bowl using powders to obtain crackle texture.  All materials and firings included.

 

Landscape Pendants

In this class you will learn extreme layering & shading for 3-D effects, creating landscapes, decaling with Tanya’s signature decals, using Glassline paints, creating frit blends, grinding & coldworking techniques.  Students will complete 6 mini works of art.  All materials included except decals.  Bring notebook & pen, glass cutting tools, detail scissors, X-acto knife, Dremel tool with small diamond ball tip.

 

Leaf Tiles

Gardeners are always finding ways to bring nature indoors.  Now glass fusers can preserve their garden beauty with these beautiful leaf tiles.

 

Millefiori Jewelry

Millefiori means, “a thousand flowers”.  Create beautiful millefiori pendants and earrings using jewelry molds that range from crosses to hearts, circles, teardrop, and oval sets.  No prior glass experience required.  Bring tweezers to class.

 

Mosaic Dichroic Jewelry

Create a 2” x 3” block with dichroic glass in class.  We will fuse the block and then set up an individual time (1 hour) for you to cut the block into pendants using templates or free-style.  Class includes 6 necklace bails or substitute set of earring bails for necklace bail.  No prior glass experience required.  All tools and materials provided.

 

Notched Dish

Everyone will wonder how you made the “notching” in the 8” x 8” dynamic dish.  No cutting experience required.  You will learn to use the Beetle Bits Cutting System.  All materials & firings included.

 

One Step Beyond Traditional Glass Painting

In this class you will learn how to mix glass paint properly, how to trace paint on top of a matte wash, & how to soften & blend lines to create shadows & highlights.  Bring to class: Glass painting kit which includes Reusche Bistre Brown & Tracing Black paint, palette knife, tracing brushes, applicator brush & blender.  Also bring 2 glass palettes approximately 5” x 6” and a portable light box if possible.  Painting kit can be pre-ordered through the Studio.  No prior painting experience required.

 

Photo Frame Heart

Begin with a pre-cut heart blank and create a beautiful fused picture frame.  Fiber paper is used to create a “pocket” for the photo.  No prior glass experience required.  All tools and materials provided.

 

Pin Frog Vase

Create elegant floral centerpieces or display fresh flowers with this unique vase.  All materials & firing included.

 

Springtime  Photo Fuse Plate

Create this fused plate using a photo fuse decal for the center design.  You will then embellish the border of the plate with bits of small fusible glass to create your own Springtime flowers.  Includes all materials & firings, except glass.  All glass must be purchased at our Studio.

 

Stamped Fused Photo Frame

Learn to make a 4” x 6” photo frame using the Beetle Bits Cutting System.  You will choose your glass and assemble the frame in the first class.  You will create stamped designs on glass that are fired in the kiln to permanently bond them to the glass in the second class.  Includes all materials & firings, except glass.  All glass must be purchased at our Studio.

 

Stamping on Glass

Learn to create stamped designs on glass that are fired to permanently bond them to the glass.  You will also learn to use the Beetle Bits Cutting System and create a wall tile/coaster using the stamped glass.

 

Stringers and/or Noodles Woven Bowl

Create a unique and stunning bowl using only stringers and noodles.  No prior glass experience required.  All tools and materials provided.

 

Sunflower Picture in Fused Glass

You need to see the finished project in person to appreciate the dimension and colors of the flowers and leaves.  Based on the best-selling book, “Fused Pictures in Glass”, you will learn to create mini works of art.  All the fusible glass, frit, stringers, confetti and firing are included.  Glass cutting skills required.  Bring to class: Tweezers, mosaic cutter & glass cutting tools.  We will also demo how to frame your piece using a shadow box frame.

 

Wildflower Panel

Create this beautiful wildflower panel using fused and stained glass techniques.  Learn how to design wildflowers in fused glass during the first session and then incorporate them into a stained glass panel during the second session.  Students must purchase background glass for fused flowers, bevels, and stained glass to finish the panel.  We will provide the fusing glass to create the wildflowers.  Bring Mosaic nippers to class.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Wire Wrapped Jewelry Class

Enhance your dichroic pendants with wire wrapping.  Must bring 3 pendants to class or purchase ours for $25.00 each.  You will learn cage wrapping techniques with your choice of silver, gold or copper wire.  Twisted wire techniques using colored aluminum and colored artistic wire.  No prior glass experience required.  All materials included except pendants.

 

Woven Basket Bowl

Create this beautiful bowl by “weaving” strips of glass.  Using a color combination of your choice, this bowl can be custom designed to suit any room in your home.  Two firings included.

 

Woven Spirit Plate

Create this unique checkerboard pattern plate using 96 Spectrum Spirit Glass.  By layering glass, the finished plate will have the appearance of woven glass.  No prior glass experience required.  Must purchase glass for project at our Studio.
